The Bruins put forth a strong effort tonight in Brooklyn to finish the weekend off going 1-1. A disappointing loss in Montreal on Saturday seemed to give Boston some extra jump tonight. Tuukka Rask seemed to be back to his old self stopping 36 of 37 shots faced. There was solid effort through the whole line up, Frank Vatrano, who got his first NHL goal last night against the Habs continued to show that he could be ready for the big club full time. Hayes and Connolly have been able to continue to play very strongly and have proven their worth in this organization. The star of the night though had to be Brad Marchand. He was only able to earn himself one point on an assist on the Bergeron goal, but he set the tone for his team tonight with what could be the most solid play we’ve seen from him all season. Boston was also able to show just how well their power-play has been, getting a goal on a 5 on 3 man advantage about half way through the first period. Former Boston Blue-liner Johnny Boychuck scored with an absolute bomb in the third with about 13 minutes left. Up to that point the Bruins had been able to slow The Iles offense and Rask was able to shut them down almost entirely. With plenty of time to go in the final period Boston held on and earned the two points they needed to not come out of the weekend at a total loss.
